Maggie’s Plan(2015) – Maggie wants to have a baby, raising him on his her, but when she gets romantically involved with John, a married man, things get complicated and all the balance of Maggie’s plans may collapse.
Carol Says: Quirky; interesting; we liked it. Maggie has decided to use a sperm donator as she cannot keep a long term relationship. She wants a child, so, the sperm donor. At the same time of making that happen, she falls in love with this guy. The beginning of this movie moves fast, so all of this happens within 15 minutes. 30 minutes? Then the rest of the film is how the relationship progresses and how it unfolds. There are some surprises and we liked the ending. That’s a biggie for us.
It is a fun movie, maybe not for everyone. At one point I thought it was a little long, but it was kept interesting. The acting was very good, and I have to say that Julianne Moore almost steels the show (no, not that much, but…). I think this may be one of the best acting jobs I have seen from her, and very different from past performances.
