As most of you are aware our friend and mentor Steve Tolen passed away Friday, October 6th. There are no words to describe the impact Steve had on emergency services in Plumas County and, especially, on the individual lives of everyone he came in contact with. I know I speak for all of us when I say that I am eternally grateful for having known him.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the Plumas County Fairgrounds (Serpilio Hall) at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 15th. John and Kitty Gay are organizing the food for this service and have asked that anyone willing to bring hors d’oeuvres do so at least an hour prior to the start of the service.
Additionally, Sam Blesse started a “Go Fund Me” for Steve Tolen’s Memorial (https://www.gofundme.com/steve-tolen-memorial). This will help Steve’s final expenses and take some of the load off of the kids. Any leftover money will be used to start an EMS Scholarship in Steve’s honor, so that his 40+ year legacy will live on in the next generation of EMS Professionals. Please share with anyone who you think would be interested.
