Mariposa County Supervisor Kevin Cann to Lead RCRC
Supervisor Kevin Cann of Mariposa County was sworn in this week as the Chair of the RCRC Board of Directors this week in Sacramento.
“Mariposa County – like so many other rural counties in California – faces numerous challenges,” said Supervisor Cann. “Navigating through these challenges is both exciting and daunting. As such I am looking forward to continuing as part of RCRC’s leadership team to help rural counties successfully meet these challenges.”
“I expect much of this year’s agenda will focus on implementing federal health care reforms in rural counties, continued challenges in prisoner management (AB 109 realignment) and eliminating fees on residents in State Responsibility Areas. But, there are likely to be other important state and federal issues that we will need to address. To accomplish these goals, I will be working with the other rural county supervisors to ensure the concerns of Mariposa County and all California’s rural counties are heard and represented,” Cann added.
In addition to Supervisor Cann serving as Chair for 2013, Supervisor Nate Beason of Nevada County assumes the role of 1st Vice Chair, and Supervisor Lee Adams of Sierra County will serve as 2nd Vice Chair. RCRC’s 2012 Chair, Colusa County Supervisor Kim Dolbow Vann, remains an officer in the position of Immediate Past Chair.
