DVFD Boot Big Success 2/6/13

Downieville–On February 1, the Downieville Volunteer Firefighters and EMT’s  seen on Downieville streets were not  responding to a fire or other emergency. Off-duty firefighters from Downieville Volunteer Fire Department were shaking their turnout boots and collecting donations to help “Fill the Boot for Burns”. DVFD raised over $1,600 during the event which  supports burn prevention and recovery programs in Northern and Central California.

Firefighters asked the community to help support burn recovery programs including Firefighters Kids Camp for Young Burn Survivors, Little Heroes Preschool Burn Camp, and other burn programs funded  by the Firefighters Burn Institute. Similar “Boot Drives” were held simultaneously throughout the nation.
