Just a quick note while things are still fresh in my mind. Thanks to all of you who were able to attend last night’s DIG meeting. It was a long one, but we did get many things discussed and accomplished.
Mary K Potter and Humayoon Lodhi were appointed to be DIG representatives to the Sierra County Chamber. This is an important step in keeping up with Chamber activities and lines of communication.
Gold Rush Days were discussed by the group and came up with a good plan and some great ideas! More about the event in the meeting minutes that Ingrid will put together and we’ll send around.
BJ Jordan and Cracker Eschleman from the Arts Council will be invited to come to our next meeting for some ideas we have for Gold Rush Days.
We worked on the 2013 Events Calendar and will have it available in February.
Jim Johnston will give us an update plans for the Fishing Derby in June.
We passed the hat and collected $77.00! We’ll pay $25.00 for use of the Masonic Bldg and I’m depositing the rest in our bank account. Thank you all for your generous donations!!
The next meeting is Wednesday, February 13 at 6:00pm at the Masonic Bldg.
By the way, the first annual (?) Burning Tree Fest was held this Sunday in Memorial Park next to Two Rivers Cafe at 11am. We’ve received the support of Tim Beals, Planning & Public Works Director and Lee Brown, Fire Chief to do this. I appreciate their efforts in working with us on it with such short notice. We burned Christmas trees and had an old-fashioned bonfire with hot dogs, s’mores and hot apple cider. It was advertised in the paper, on the Sierra County Prospect and with posters all around town. Hope you didn’t miss it, see you at the next 2014 Burning Tree Fest.
