Downieville School presented the 2013 Talent Show on Friday April 22 and a wonderful time was had by both performers and the full house audience.
Host Savannah Burr welcomed everyone and the fun began with Alicia Schofield’s K-3 Class singing rounds of Three Blind Mice much to the delight of the audience, Abby Sainsbury sang a Taylor Swift solo to much applause and then the K-3 kids told jokes and there was lots of laughter.
A Trash Fashion Show was presented by Hannah Dunnam and the Junior High AVID.
Esmeralda Nevarez and Gillian Rust sang and danced a rousing rendition of Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the USA”. Sean Epps performed a unique style of playing cups to everyone’s amazement and delight.
Almost all of the students performed the Harlem Shake leaving many in the audience members who weren’t up on the latest internet flash craze in the dust. Those who knew what was happening were laughing heartily.
Maralia Rollins, Daisy Warta and Eliane Campbell then serenaded us followed by Alison (Ali) Rambo gaving a hilarious a Monologue on what she thinks about almost everything involved with having braces.
Mrs. Salva’s 4-6th grade students gave an enjoyable poem reading of poems written by their classmates.
The finale of the evening was the Drama Class presenting a pre-enactment of their 60th Class Reunion ending with a dance to “Moves Like Jagger” a great way to end an entertaining fun filled evening.
Organizers led by Drama teacher Lynn Fillo were Savannah Burr, Marie Ellsworth, Hannah Dunnam, Leslie Baker, Fiona Baiker, Alexis Whitaker, Tommy Dines, Ramon Nevarez, and Rosendo Marquez did an outstanding job.
Thanks to Alicia Schofield, Laura Salva, Amber Sainsbury, Cathy Stewart, Peggy Daigle, Kathy Fischer, Cracker Eshleman, Greg Bostrom, BJ Jordan, Lynn Fillo and Suzi Pangman alongwith the Student Council’s families, Sunny Warta and Barbara O’Donnell that donated treats for the Bake Sale.
