Enloe Flight Care Seeks donations for new helicopter.
Enloe Flight Care is an air medical transport service that the Downieville Fire Department ambulance service relies on when there is a need for rapid transport of critical medical and trauma patients . They also provide EMS training for our EMS personnel on the west side of Sierra County at no cost to the EMT or Downieville Fire Dept.
The program, started in 1985, grew out of the need to rapidly transport patients from growing mountain communities to its base hospital, Enloe Medical Center, a regional Level II trauma center and provides flight care services for a radius of seventy five miles
Enloe Medical Center’s Board of Trustees recently voted to proceed with a helicopter upgrade, a new EC 130 EcoStar, because the existing helicopter is approaching a milestone date in its operational life. The total purchase price including equipment and training is expected to be three and one-half million dollars. Most of the cost of this new helicopter will be offset by the Enloe Foundation and the sale of the existing helicopter. The final one million is being sought from a fundraising campaign focused on the 75 mile radius served by the program. This campaign is known as ” Take Flight”
