Sierraville–The Sierraville Community Church has recently welcomed Pastor Jim and Jeannie Knight from Dallas, Oregon as Associate Village Missionaries to serve here for a few months until a full-time Village Missions family arrives. Pastor Jim is a graduate of Montana Institute of the Bible in Lewistown, Montana. He retired in 2007 after 27 years as a Village Missionary Pastor in the Western and Mid-western United States. The Knights have been Associate Village Missionaries since retirement at six different churches in four states including Arizona, Alaska, Nebraska, Oregon, and now California.
The Sierraville Community Church became associated with Village Missions in October of this year and the Knights arrived on the day before Halloween. They are living in the church-owned parsonage in Calpine, and Pastor Jim said that they lost track of how many kids came to their door asking for “trick or treats” on Halloween evening. “It was great!” Jeannie said. Both Pastor Jim and Jeannie agree that the Sierra Valley is a “great place to live!”
Village Missions is an interdenominational home mission board, meaning that it is an organization that provides spiritual leadership to rural churches in the USA and Canada who request leadership from Village Missions. Their slogan is “Keeping Country Churches Alive,” and they have been instructing their missionaries to “Preach the Word,” and “Love the People” for over 60 years.
