Phyllis Blanche Helrich 1935 – 2013

PHYLLIS BLANCHE HELRICH

January 22, 1935 to January 21, 2013

Phyllis lost her battle with cancer on January 21, 2013.  She was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Edward & Sadie Rohde.  She was the youngest of five, her brothers Darrel, Gene, Donald  and Daniel live and farm in Nebraska.

In 1958, Phyllis and her first husband moved to the Bay Area where they had five children, Ronda of Walnut Creek, Scott of Willits, Randy of Antioch, Mitch of Brentwood and Kelly of Richmond.  She also leaves four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Phyllis married Craig “Goose” Helrich in 1976.  They built their home in Sierra City and moved there in 1980.  Phyllis first worked for the Downieville Schools as the school secretary before going to work for the Sierra County Courts retiring in 2001.  While living in Sierra City, she was involved with the Women’s Fire Auxiliary, Sierra Buttes Snowbusters and supported many local community events.  Every summer, Phyllis and Goose loved attending and showing at many classic car shows all over northern California.

After moving to Sparks in 2007, Phyllis enjoyed gardening, the casinos, shopping and access to all types of resale stores, a lifelong passion.

Per her wishes, there will be no services.  Her ashes will be taken to Emerson, Nebraska, for a family service and burial in the family plot this summer.
