Sierra Valley News from Ira Kane 9/26/12

9/26/12  Correspondent Ira Kane reports: Marble Lane Bridge in the center of Sierra Valley. A real hot spot for bird watchers through much of the spring and summer. A few birds will remain until the temperatures drop.  I spooked up this Sandhill Crane that was searching for frogs and snakes in the reeds. This late in the season the flow is reduced to a relative trickle as it meanders down the valley to become the headwaters of the Feather River.

9/6/12 SCP News Correspondent, Ira Kane,  from the great Sierra Valley reports on the Sierra Brooks Bear.

Sierra Brooks Bear

Judy May posted this image captured in her back yard recently with a trail-cam. Several Sierra Brooks residents have reported seeing the bear in or near the homes.  We need to be reminded that bears will be attracted to garbage cans, pet foods left on the porch, as well as any fruit trees you may have in your yard.  Bears will be actively putting on the fat needed for their long winter sleep.  A bears nose is many times better than any dog and will search for food any place we leave it.
