Open House and Grant Application for Off Highway Vehicle Program
Tahoe National Forest
Nevada City….. The Forest Service will be submitting an annual application to the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division. This application will request funding for trail maintenance, restoration, development of facilities, law enforcement, and planning for off-highway vehicle (OHV) access.
On Tuesday, Feb 12, the Forest Service will be hosting an open house from 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm so that individuals and organizations can review the proposals. “I would like to encourage anyone interested in the OHV program to drop by the informal open house to discuss their ideas on these proposals. Written comments would be most helpful if sent to me by February 25,” stated Joe Chavez, Tahoe National Forest Trails Program Coordinator.
These annual grants have provided important funds for the Forest Service to maintain the trails, develop trails and trailheads, repair winter storm damage and restore trailside environments as well as enabling patrolling and monitoring of these areas. When finalized, the grants will be available for public review and comment on the State’s website (http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/) from March 5 – April 1, 2013.
