Town Hall Meeting for Seniors in Loyalton July 24 @ 12:15 at the Loyalton Senior Center, 302 1st St, Loyalton.
Supervisor Schlefstein and local aging experts to meet with senior citizens
Senior citizens who live on fixed incomes have been especially hard hit by the recession. At the same time, the network of community services that helps some of the most frail elders continue living in their own homes has been devastated by budget cuts.
This Town Hall Meeting will give senior citizens, family caregivers and community stakeholders a forum to share their concerns and ideas with leaders in the local aging services network. The goals are to identify “What matters most” to the senior community in Sierra County, and to explore some specific ways that progress can be made, despite the economic challenges we all face.
Input received at the Town Hall Meeting will also help shape decisions about what types of services seniors in Sierra County will receive through federal Older Americans Act funds over the next four years (2013-17).
The Tuesday, July 24 meeting at 12:15 Sierra_Town_Hall_Flyer_2012 is being held by Area 4 Agency on Aging, in partnership with Supervisor Schlefstein. Your Area 4 representatives in Sierra County are Supervisor Schlefstein, Marie Silver and Liz Fisher.
