...COLD STORM TO BRING SNOW TO THE MOUNTAINS TONIGHT INTO EARLY
THURSDAY...

.A STORM FROM THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL PUSH THROUGH TONIGHT
BRINGING A PERIOD OF SNOW TO THE NORTHERN SIERRA AND MOUNTAINS OF
WESTERN PLUMAS COUNTY AND LASSEN PARK. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL WILL
ACCOMPANY A FAST MOVING COLD FRONT WHICH MOVES THROUGH THIS
EVENING. GUSTY WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THE SNOW PRODUCING POOR
VISIBILITY AT TIMES. LIGHT SNOW IS ALSO POSSIBLE INTO THE
FOOTHILLS WITH ACCUMULATIONS RANGING FROM A DUSTING TO AN INCH.
SNOW SHOWERS MAY LINGER THROUGH THE DAY THURSDAY WITH LITTLE
ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATION.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 4 AM PST THURSDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 2 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE VALLEYS AND 
  IN THE MOUNTAINS 5 TO 7 INCHES.

* TIMING: WEDNESDAY EVENING INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: INTERSTATE 80 ACROSS DONNER PASS... HIGHWAY
  50 OVER ECHO SUMMIT... HIGHWAY 88 OVER CARSON PASS... AND LASSEN
  VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK....CHESTER AND QUINCY.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH.

* IMPACTS: TRAVEL DELAYS FROM POOR VISIBILITY AND SLIPPERY ROADS
  ARE POSSIBLE AT TIMES. CHAIN CONTROLS MAY BE NEEDED FOR TRANS-
  SIERRA ROADWAYS.
