WESTERN SIERRA MEDICAL CLINIC TO EXPAND HOURS FOR SUMMER SEASON IN SIERRA COUNTY FOR PRIMARY AND URGENT CARE
DOWNIEVILLE – Western Sierra Medical Clinic will expand its hours of operation at its Downieville facility for the summer season to seven days a week, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. beginning May 22, 2015.
After evaluating ways to help meet the anticipated seasonal health care needs of the community, the Board of Directors of Western Sierra Medical Clinic has approved the change to provide more hours of service at the Downieville clinic.
The clinic will offer expanded primary and urgent care services during the summer season to assist residents and tourists to the area with their health care needs. After hours, Western Sierra medical providers will be available by phone. For emergencies, people in need of care should call 9-1-1.
“As part of our commitment to the community, we are expanding hours of operation during the summer months when Sierra County attracts more outdoor enthusiasts and others who want to enjoy what the region has to offer,” said Larry Allen, Western Sierra Medical Clinic Board President.
“The clinic will offer same-day urgent care services for minor injuries, including small cuts with wound care and splinting, common illnesses – such as colds, flu and kidney infections – and minor injuries, including back pain, cuts and sprains, said Dr. Glenn Thiel, Chief Medical Officer for Western Sierra. Primary care services also are available and dental care is available on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., he adds.
All patients are welcome, regardless of their income level or insurance coverage, according to Dr. Thiel.
“We want visitors and residents to have a happy and healthy visit to Sierra County. If they need medical attention, Western Sierra Medical Clinic is committed to serving the community and its visitors,” said Dr. Thiel.
