I have great news! After several years of working on this project, we will finally have winter indoor farmers markets in the Sierra Valley. They are a little different from summer markets in that customers order online, then farms come if their order minimum is met. This is a win win I think because the farmer doesn’t have to go to the trouble and expense of driving winter roads if there isn’t enough interest in what they have to sell. The customer can come at anytime during the market and not need to worry about product having run out. Their order will be pre-packed and waiting for them at each booth they ordered from. There will be additional product available on that day. There will also be a farm to table meal available for purchase to eat there, or take to go prepared by the amazing Therapeutic Chefs from Truckee. The meals will be made from the participating farms produce. The markets will be the 2nd Sunday of each month Nov – May. The first one is coming up on the 13th. Product to pre-order will go up a few days before and folks can order until 5 PM on Fri. The markets will be located at the Calpine Community Center from 11-3. Go to www.SierraFreshFood.weebly.com to see more info and use the contact page to sign up for emails that will go out to let you know when product is up to order.
